Hutchinson, Kan- For the third year in a row, Underground Vaults and Storage (UV&S) is participating in the Adopt-A-Family program coordinated by Country 102.9 and the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services. The outreach program helps provide a Christmas for low-income families who would otherwise not be able to celebrate the holidays due to their hardships.
UV&S Human Resources Director Misty Reimer, who coordinates UV&S’ involvement with Adopt-A-Family explained why UV&S chose to participate in the program. She stated that “instead of using all of our money on decorations and entertainment for our holiday party, we felt that it would be more rewarding to give to a needy family.”
Reimer received a family profile along with a wish list of items the family requested. She pointed out that families “ask for mainly clothes.” She also mentioned that she includes toy items that the children request.
