Hutchinson, Kan-Underground Vaults & Storage (UV&S) proudly welcomes Carla Monroe to its human resources team as training specialist. A member of the Hutchinson Salt Mine Rescue team, her unit recently placed first in the underground and first aid competitions. Her team plans to compete in four additional competitions this year.

Some of Monroe’s duties at UV&S will include leading training programs for new hires, management, and operations. She will also direct safety initiatives which will include teaching CPR and mine safety. Monroe brings five years of experience in training mine rescue teams. She is also a certified Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) instructor and an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) instructor. Monroe holds certification as an EMT and an EMTI. She received her associates degree in applied sciences from Omaha College of Health Careers.

Company president Lee Spence says, “With the addition of Ms. Monroe to the UV&S support staff, her experience and knowledge in job training, mine safety and OSHA safety will help strengthen the company’s service to the customers and enhance all the company’s safety programs.”
